Wow.. Two weeks is VERY short notice for an item like that.
Good luck in getting a hold of Karen.
(BTW, I'm mostly posting here to help keep this thread bumped up towards the top...)
You might try getting in touch with some of your local Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA) people.
Many of these guys & gals have Maille projects in various stages of completedness. If you're lucky, you might find someone who's got a partially finished Hauberk or Byrnie that could be converted to your needs.
Better move fast, though. Maille is rather time consuming.

What is actually being filmed? I'm assuming it's nothing outdoors. Do you live in the KC area? I live in Liberty. If you, or anybody else, wants to do a MM remake, there are some roads around here that would be suitable.
Aren't you the one who said that you've done a bunch of work with music videos? I asked you which ones, and you never replied.

Hey YDK7 ... it was me who you asked ... and me who forgot to answer!
There seems to be a pattern emerging ... and it isn't looking good for my short term memory!
Some highlights ... and a few low lights ...
Craig Mc Lachlan - Mona
Peter Andre - Beautiful Girl
Midnight Oil - Beds are burning (LIVE)
INXS - Disappear
Hoodoo Gurus - The right time
Paul Kelly - To Her Door (ARIA WINNER - Best Clip)
Died Pretty - Headaround
The Superjesus - Saturated

Thanks. I've heard of the Hoodoo Gurus, but never heard any of their stuff. I've only seen the regular Beds are Burning video. Is the Disappear video the one that takes place outside at night? Also, I recall that Michael Hutchence is wearing a suit in the video I'm thinking of. Oops. I think the video I'm describing is for New Sensation. [/font]
Since it seems like you may be an 80's music expert like myself, I have a song question for you. There is this song I heard a while back that had a medium tempo. But the tempo slows down during the chorus. I am pretty sure the chorus is just the line "That's how I feel" sung twice. I think the singer either has a kind of deep voice, or just does during the chorus. Does this song sound familiar to you.

Yikes ... more information please Mr Harwood?
US ... UK ... Australian?
Male singer ... fmale singer ... either way I need more clues!
The late seventies and eigties are 'my time' but my main interest was punk/detroit rock and independant stuff. I loathed new wave/new romantic music ... Phil Collins is the Antichrist and deserves eternal damnation for making the gated snare drumsound popular. I'll stop there before I lose too many friends.
I'm intrigued and have sent your clues to a mate ... the guitar player from the Hoodoo Gurus in fact who is the greatest music geek I know ... I'll let you know but I suspect even 'I can name that tune in two notes' Shepard will have trouble.

The singer is male. For some reason, I'm thinking the song has a similar feel/style/tempo to INXS's "Original Sin".
I also have a music video I'm stumped on. At the end of the video, the main character is pushed out of something like an older Rolls Royce. The car then drives off. This takes place in the LA River(actually a huge cement drainage canal that is shown in almost every car chase that is filmed in LA). There might be an earlier part where the main character is sitting in a chair in a wood-panneled office/library in a mansion and being questioned by other men.

Karol, did get ahold of me regarding the Auntie Costume.. But we decided or at least I decided not to be involved with this commercial.
As I explained to him, I worked on it for about ten and a half months. It was pretty labor intensive. I taught myself how to make chain maile, and worked with a friend who helped me to build the frame that all that chain maile sets on.
The costume itself weights probably about 50 to 60 lbs. all that weight rests on your shoulders on the frame work. I had grave concerns when Karol told me they wanted to have the model wear a harness under the costume and jump from a vehicle. As I explained to Karol, this is an costume I basically built from nothing. I didn't want the liablity if something should go wrong and the girl would be injured. If I were taking the risks that would be my responsiblity but I just couldn't take that risk for anyone else.
Karol spoke of a gathering where some one has actually built a Thunderdome? Does anyone know where this is put on at? I may be interested in attending. I have a few friends who may wish to go also. He did tell me but frankly I can't remember the name of it.
Iam hoping Karol will get back to me with that information, I did write an email to him.

I'm rather curious why you didn't make the thing from ALUMINUM wire..
Places like Tractor Supply Co. carry several different guages of electric fence wire in both galvanized steel and aluminum.
Last time I bought wire it was a 1/4 mile spool which cost.. Oh darn.. Either $15 or $7. (I have such a lousy memory) I believe the Aluminum is a bit more expensive, but nor bad.
Horrid part is I have severall smal chunks of maille done in 17 guage wire with 3/16 inch outside diameter rings.
I keep seeing them & thinking "My, but those rings would make a really nice Byrnie.." ("Chain" Maille T-Shirt, basically..)
Like I really NEED to start another project.....

When I first concieved of making the Auntie Costume.. I didn't have a clue what would be involved. It was simply something I liked.. I love the Mad Max Movies and thought that Tina Turner was great in the movie..
I was at a friends house, we had just come from InCon, our local sci-fi convention. A lot of my friends from this particular convention really like to do costumes. I wanted to do something that was different, not medival or alien.
So as we were sitting in his apartment dreaking mead, I asked him if he thought it was something we could build. Ed looked at me and said sure why not anything can be built if you want to do the effort. I went online and began researching sites for chain maile. I do not personally have a lot of tools laying around so I was dependant on Ed to do some of the framework for it.
I didn't have the tools to make wire so I used RingLord.Com as my ring source. Yes it would have been cheaper if I had made them myself but at the time I didn't know as much as I know now.

Anyway I did a lot of the work in my spare time. ((not that I have a lot)) I learned how to make European 4 in 1, since it was the simplest to do.
There were no patterns for the costume, I had contacted Peter, he suggested to contact Karol, but neither of them were really able to help me much. So back to Ed, he has a realy nice computer set up ,better than mine.
I bought a dvd of Thunderdome and we began to take video captures of tina in her costume. With a good dress dummy and a lot of hard work I made the chain maile.
I happen to be rather proud of my work, it isn't exactly like Tinas but as close as i could get it to be. I would have liked to let them use it in the commercial, but Karol was saying about their model jumping from a truck. I didn't wish to risk my work being destroyed or worst the model injured should something go wrong.
So that is pretty much what has happened. I hope they are ble to make their commercial. Perhaps some other time it will be used and if not it has a place of honor with my other costumes.
