I heard an Australian use the word "bogan" but he refuses to tell me what it means. Is it the same as what "culchie" means in my country? if it is something offensive then I'll try to delete this.

Yes a Bogan in Australia is very close to what a Culchie is back in Ireland.

Bogan = Westie =

The Bogan's natural habitat are the outer suburbs of just about all major cities of Oz. They are most commonly found clumping at Social Security Offices and Pubs/Clubs ... or car shows.

The national dress is a pair of 80s stonewash jeans ... preferably stretch ... teamed with a pair of thigh-high Ugh boots (sheepskin), a torn and faded Metallica T shirt with a clashing plaid flannelette shirt .... undone of course. The entire ensemble should be topped off by a striped football team beanie.

While Bogan is not an offensive word no one wants to be refered to as one.

Sadly they do not survive outside their natural habitat ... although they breed prolifically in captivity they tend to wither on the vine. They can be viscous and don't make good pets.

BogOn, is also a moth. Currently in plague proportions in Canberra. They've actually had to resort to turning off most of the lights at parliament house so as not to attract the damn things.

well Bog's arn't THAT bad, their no good, thieving c**ts, who drive COMMODORES and will buy a pack of ciggies before their kids eat, but they ain't into hard sh*t like that.
