Angry Max or Crazy Max?

Post by Docc »

I watched road warrior the other day and I still don't get the whole title thing about Max being Mad. Do they mean that Max is crazy or that max is just angry? I mean, I could definitely see it being Angry Max, but he does act pretty psycho a lot too.

My follow up question would be that if Max is indeed crazy, why would this be? I mean, I could understand him being a little upset after wrecking his car, but that kind of thing happens a lot and most people don't react by going nuts.

Also, what is the deal with max and women? Is he not into them or what? I personally think he could easily have gotten to 2nd base with that one blonde chick in the colony and maybe to third with a little finesse. She was hot, so I don't really see Max's deal.

In respone to maybe the most absurd post I've ever read.

Max is mad becuase its cool to be mad. Everyone looks up to you and wishes they could also be insane. When you are mad you get to say things like "I'll drive that tanker" and "Toast".

Max does not like women, he likes dogs, that's why he does not have a little "woman" seat on his left door.

I hope that answers your questions Docc.

Welcome to the forum.

Max went a little "mad" after the scoot jockeys in Mad Max 1, went and murdered his wife and kid, and also Goose, his best friend. One has compared him to the whole Batman persona...lost his parents to crime, so he must avenge them...the lone samurai who lost his lord, so he must avenge his master's death...Max avenging his families death and hurting the others in the MFP...getting a picture here? It all ties into the mythos of story telling that goes waaay back.

I think he could've practiced "nocturnal mating rituals" with the warrior woman (Virginia Hey), but other than some pleasure and maybe some material goods, what use was she to him? If she got pregnant, the baby would be a parasite on the already dwendling supplies of the compound and Max was leaving anyway. He could still be reeling from the loss of his family as well...not wanting to "soil" their memories, or just didn't care about the act anymore. Besides, the situation wasn't necessary for the plot.

It's just my take on the situation...

Tycho...Dude, just settle down there...Docc has every right to ask a question. Manners. Remember manners...and lingerie...

Tycho...it's a tie-in to one of the lines in MM2/Road Warrior. "Lingerie, remember lingerie." It's the smalltalk Gyro was babbling when Max was leading him to his gyrocopter to get the tanker. No worries mate...just hang with us a little longer...you'll "get it straight." (another line from MM3BTD) Image

"You know what I miss most? Clean Women. Nail polish, perfume, the smell of bicycle seats, cocktails, desserts, lingerie. Remember lingerie?"

Never understood the longing for the smell of bicycle seats myself, I would presume they smell like ass crack. (having never actually smelled a bicycle seat myself)

Ehm...

Ehmmmmm...

... Okay. This man deserves an answer, despite the absurdity of the question Image

"MAD" (M-A-D) as "DAREDEVIL". A daredevil is a man a little bit "off the track" in terms of mental sanity who believes to be able to face EVERY dangerous situation and manage to survive to it very well. MAX is a DAREDEVIL. Angry? Not. He's cold, quiet, wordless, calm and mortal. Mad as crazy? Just a little bit. Mad as daredevil? Yes. At 100%.

As far as concerned the women. NO. N-O. Max has no more sentimental desires. HE LOVES JESSIE, his heart was swept away with her death. HE dreams about her every day, he thinks about her ev'ry minute of his bloody, dirty, wasted life. THIS IS THE GREATEST LOVE STORY ever told. Sexual desires? Maybe. As everyone of us. But from that point of view, he's like a priest, so he know how to kill his impulses forever.

JESSIE. That's the reason he can make the next fukkin' step in the wild Wasteland one more day... as always.
