WEZ was the reason i joined the board, i read the damn thing for years, and all the things i wanted to talk about were being discussed , i had nothing original to say, till the WEZ VS IRONBAR discussion, somebody baught up 'wez not being intelligent', and that did it for me, i knew wez better than that, and despite the theorys of wez arguing with the humungus about the vermin's encounter with max, i still think they're arguing about war strategies...

I agree with you about the Wez/Humungus debate.

Hey, you put yourself waaaay too much DOWN! I can't believe you hadn't nothing original to say... you're actually raising good points (in the other threads, when you don't talk about Thunderdome) Image

I think Uncle is right that to non-Mad Max fans, the middle of MM 1 can be boring. I used to fastforward through it myself, especially the part where Max is telling Jessie "He was tall, and he took long strides."

BUT, I recently got MM1 on DVD, and thinking I would select only the car chase scenes, I religiously sat and watched it all the way through without so much as a bathroom break. To watch Max's character develop, to watch him slowly go MAD. That's what it's all about.

yeah MM1 is my favorite, but my friends dont like it much besides the interceptor because they think its too boring. my girlfriend thought the movie jumped around too much and found it to be confusing, but i think that is because we watched the original austrailian version. so next time, we'll watch the dubbed version just so she can get more of a feel of what is going on. i have no problem understanding them in the original version, but that might mainly be becuase ive seen it so many times and every time i used to watch it, it was the dubbed version.

Personally, I found the proper Aussie dialouge (when I finally saw it) much more engaging & entertaining, as the acting actually comes through. little inflections of voice make the story SO much better. I'll never watch the dubbed version again.

same here, i never watch the dubbed version anymore. i could always tell somethin wasnt right when they were talkin. its a lot better to be able to hear the original dialogue.

i'm glad you guys are keeping with the AUSTRALIAN dialogue, i can understand how hard it is after watching something for so long, knowing those quotes in a certain way, then something coming along and f**king it all up for you.

Same happened to me with the JOHN WOO film THE KILLER, i'd watched the american dubbed version for years, and yeah it sounded funny but i was used to it, then i got the original jap version with english subtitles, and it was way cooler and dramatic. i ain't goin back.

Hey guys don't forget the Mad Max was a low budget film that had many of the action sequences not filmed due to lack of money.

Still, the Nightrider chase is probably the best chase in the series and Mad Max is more character driven and better acted than the next two.

And the Interceptor looks superb!!!!

Have ya noticed though most people prefer INTERCEPTOR 2. ?

when i got my PLANET X models i took them into the local model shop to see what i needed to complete them, and the guy behind the counter was extremely interested in the second one, and even asked for a photo when it was done. then when they were done my friends wanted to order some of the models too, but instead of getting both like i did, they got part 2's.

i guess it does have the most character, and i love the tanks, the first shot of it passing the camera, just after we see wez pass by , it looks excellent, i mean that first shot whe the dirt covers the whole back end right up to the rear window, (you'll notice when max stops at the truck the dirt only covers the bottom of the back pure continuity error, then at the GYROCOPTER it is so obviously the double car , when max backs off over to it look how low it hunkers over the wheels, the original looks way cooler jacked up at the back). it looks the best it ever does then.

Nitro, you're totally off-road. Mel gave the best performances of his own career in MM2 and MM3, BRAVEHEART and SIGNS apart. Trust in me, I'm a Mel Gibson fan, I watched and re-watched all his movies, collected tons of stuff on him and I'm pratically a regular in the Gibson forum. Thunderdome is the more character-driven movie out of the three, while the MM2's final run is undoubtely the greatest chase scene. Thunderdome offered the greatest fight scene ever filmed, and the final action set-piece set up new standards in modern action cinema.
