Just a quick question.
At the beginning of the movie, just when Immortan Joe opens up the channels and makes the water cascades flow below, I just remember that the sequence was a bit longer, and the fall of the water looked more "dramatic" and dynamic.
Instead, I just realized that the sequence is short and you just see the water cascades from a far camera shot.
Am I wrong on this?

Re: Question about the "Water" scene
Yes you are.
It's safe to say there are no changes or cuts.
At the beginning when the water starts to fall the camera is watching from behind the Wretched crowd.
Next you get a side shot where you see the crowd rushes to the front towards the water trying to catch as much as possible.
A short establishing shot of the Citadel and then a close up on Immortans face, the music is swelling...and he shuts the pipelines.
This sequence is not very long because: 'Do not my friends become addicted to water!'

Re: Question about the "Water" scene
That's okay. Thank you so much for your articulated answer. Yeah, the sequence is short and not "bombastic", because these waterfalls are very casual, brief and not much "promoted" in the Citadel world. It's a swindle, after all. Immortan Joe is slowly killing them.Immortan Joecutter wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 11:58 am Yes you are.

Just rewatched this scene. Such a great sequence, I rewatched it on 4K.
How many people were on there, in the Citadel zone? I can see thousands of people waiting for the water! Truly impressive.

Who knows really? I'd say thousands maybe. The idea is that those people travelled there from all over because it was the only known source of fresh water so yeah.Uncle Entity wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 3:07 am Just rewatched this scene. Such a great sequence, I rewatched it on 4K.

What about the film production? Hopefully they didn't use CGI to "multiply" the Wretched.

On set? I'd say about a 100 'Wretched' just eyeballing it. Then they copied them over, created CG crowds and such. They did a really good job!Uncle Entity wrote: What about the film production? Hopefully they didn't use CGI to "multiply" the Wretched.
All the wide shots of the Citadel are just CG, there's no argument there, the practical parts like the crowd near the elevator and people getting water were filmed in Sydney after they came back from Namibia.

Re: Question about the "Water" scene
Yah, it was unnoticeable, and well-crafted. And there was no other way to do that anyway.
