ImageAs expected, Gordons the clear voice of reason in all this. Now heres the deal. If this is a prequel, whats it a prequel to? The first or the second? Id like to see the gaps between one and two filled in. If so, we need another Interceptor built. And just WHO should do THAT? Will Gordon get a job now? SOMEBODY is going to be needed to make or advise on whatever car or cars will be used and Gordons the man. Id say do the resume and send it off to Fox, Icon, Miller and whoever the heck else may be involved in the decision.

filling in the gap between 1 and 2. Droooool! Awesome idea.

Is this "prequel" a real rumor? The only thing that would mess with it is Mel's age but I suppose people would be willing to overlook that.

Mel is way too old to make a prequel to Road Warrior. Although, I always wondered what the hell happened between Mad Max and RW. Would make for a good comic series or something...

Anthony Hopkins in an interview said he was too old to do a prequel to Silence of the Lambs, but he still made Red Dragon. What sort of adventures do you think Max got into between MM1 and MM2? We know he put big huge fuel tanks on the back of The Interceptor, but we also know he didn't hit anything or push anyone with the Interceptor or the plastic front end would have fallen off like it did 2 minutes into MM2. (God, that pisses me off.) I think Max had been wandering, depressed, and scavenging. I don't think there was enough of a story to make a movie out of. No, we must go forward! Beyond Thunderdome, and then beyond that! But at the same time go back to the beginning. Back to his roots. What made Max mad? It wasn't the murder of his wife and child. It started way before that. He already said "Its that rat circus out there. I'm beginning to enjoy it." He already had the darkness inside of him. It was just waiting for the right catalyst to bring it out. We need to see an older, wiser, bitter and somber Max, returning to that dirty alley where it all started, where he watched his parents brutally murdered when he was only 8 years old, where he watched them lie twitching and bleeding, where he looked into the eyes of the man who stole all sense from his life....Oh, um, sorry, wrong anti-hero.

Anyway, just a thought.

Much as i'd like to know exactly what transpired between 1 & 2,(and to see the Black on Black again) from a "prequil" point of view, I think After 2 but before Thunderdome has the most potential. The world was still very mobile and still searching for fuel and answers.

Max was still a "closet human" Let us see that door open just a little more, in preperation for the events in Thunderdome. Of course the bonus of this is we then need a FIFTH movie for after Thunderdome. :) I think it has always bothered me that the emotional leap in Max from MM2 to BTD was too much, too quickly. Suddenly this introverted, lost soul is running around bargaining to get his wheels back and playing with children. This just isn't the same guy we saw last time out. What happened to him inbetween, that the world got more isolated from itself, and Max became more outgoing? Psychologically this doesn't fit.

It fits very well, insteed.

Between RW and THUNDERDOME there are 15 years. In all this time, the survivors started to build up small Refinery-look like communities and their attitude became more friendly. No fuel at all, no that much supplies - THEY HAD TO BECOME more "friendly" in order to keep themself ALIVE!

Max changed in 15 years of psychological/emotional flux in order to keep himself alive. To be alive in the dimensional step portrayed by MM Beyond T-Dome you MUST BE "outgoing", you have to make bargains evrywhile, you have to be ready. In this sense, Max is the ultimate survivor, because he changed his introverse nature (he was a silent man EVEN when he was a family man, figure it out!) in order to keep himself on the line again.

It was quick for the viewers. Not for Max.

They ought to hire those guys to build vehicles for Road Fury :D

Back on topic, I don't see a prequel as an option here. It would confuse most people from the start. What I'd like to see is a really in depth PC game that explains what happened between movies. Sort of like how the new "The Thing" game explains what happened immediately after that movie. There's so much they can do with a Mad Max game nowadays. If they start to design it now, work on it in 2003, they can announce and release it around the same time as when the movie hits theaters. It's a brilliant merchandising tactic that has proven itself so many times before. They can even include bits from the previous movies to get new fans interested in them. George Miller can't JUST make Fury Road for us longtime fans. He has to grab the attention of the masses and make them want to discover Max's past.

That vehicle closer resembles something involved in one of the many 80s Futuristic Apocolyptic movies that came out.

I didn't like their way of making the drop axles either.

Uncle,

That was basically the point I was trying to make. That SO much must have happened to Max between 2 & 3, that there's a movie in there, and I would like to see it. that the leap between the films was a very drastic one, and that I was still expecting a more solitary Max. Therefore BTD didn't sit as well with me as it could have.

Also, I agree that a prequil is probably not the way to go, (and almost certainly won't be what we will be seeing) but that if one were to do a prequil, that is the time span I would like to see.
