As long as the merchandising is restricted to sensible models (lego interceptor anyone?) plus the usual posters and a decent Press Pack then I'll be happy.

Having said that, a McDonalds Happy Meal advert for Mad Max toys with Max, Wez, Humungous etc arriving at the Drive Thru might just be enough to persuade me that Happy Meals Max toys could be tolerated!!!

Ok, I'll go for the MaxDonald's tie-in. McFarlane can do the action figures. I'm just glad Trendmasters isn't around to screw it up. Thank God nobody listened to me back in the '90's when I worked there.

I'm hoping the car isn't a Monaro. Nothing against the vehicle, but the new GTO is basically a rebadged Monaro, right? And ol' Vin Diesel will have one in xXx Pt.2. Hope they keep it period correct and drag out the '70's Falcons...

Some Aboriginal mysticism would be very cool too.

This is the first that I had heard that the title was going to be "Fury Road" and I am pleasantly surprised, despite its cheesiness, because it implies a return to vehicular mayhem and carnage that was sadly missing in Thunderdome. If they can maintain the flow of character development from Thunderdome combined with good old fashioned automotive violence it will be a good thing.

Unfortunately with the word "Fury" they may be playing off the success of "The Fast and The Furious" so the vehicles may be all Japanese "rice-burners" with really big wings on the back and the soundtrack will be all Rap music. Of course compact Japanese cars would not be a good choice for a battle vehicle, but (insiting an argument here) neither was the plastic front ended Falcon.

Star Trek Nemesis opens tomorrow with some battle vehicles of its own, which from what I hear are based on the vehicles from "Full Metal Challenge," some of which resemble vehicles from Thunderdome.

Hopefully, as you guys said earlier, the CGI effects will be used to make elaborate landscapes and backgrounds while some real steel vehicles fly by on the screen.

Don't worry, 14 months after the apocalypse, all cars manufactured in Crapan will cease to function and serve only to furnish homemade junkmobiles with comfy seats.

Ho ho ho

In the script for the video that I can never afford to film, the Interceptor built as a replacement for the missing unit (missing Max interceptor), becomes a deserter when its driver realizes that the MFP was about to be disbanded and its duties handed across to the military, so with his Interceptor he deserts into the wasteland. Here he links up with another MFP deserter in a big block turbocharged 4 door XB, the two deserters meet out in the salinity wasted salt flats of the waste land, out there the replacement Interceptor meets a variety of low slung almost zero ground clearance solar vehicles that travel on the vast flat salt waste lands.

These solar vehicles are friendlier, but they lack outright speed, and cannot pass beyond the salt boundaries.

When the replacement interceptor makes a mercy run into a deserted and violated city it encounters the descents of the Japanese cars of today, 4 cylinder turbocharged packs of Japanese machines that are driven by those who despise the past Dinosaurs. And the Black on Black Dinosaur in particular.

The little bit I did film as the first meeting between the XB Big block MFP deserter and the replacement interceptor and its driver, I filmed as they met at the end of the sealed road, and the entrance to the salt waste land.[/font]

Max is the GREATEST character of movie history. Period.

He doesn't need a CAR like the LAST V-8 to be the greatest character in movie history. Period.

Uncle Entity has spoken.

And c'mon, I agree with Batmax about the Fury Road point.

As happy as I am to hear of MM4, I have to agree with this comment on MM3...

>like the Lone Ranger with out Silver.

>Batman with out the Batmobile.

>Stasky with out the Torino.

>Dirty Harry with out a Magnum.

I hope they find some way of getting him back behind the wheel. I don't want to see chariots chasing wagons. I also have to disagree with this comment...

Regarding Batman and the Batmobile, Batman does not need the Batmobile the way Max needs the Interceptor. If you only know Batman from the campy TV show and the recent string of movies, then you have never seen Batman. The Batman in the comic books is dark, brooding, perpetually unhappy, haunted by nightmares, obsessed with the murder of his parents, and tortured by the awareness that no matter what he does he can never get them back. The bottom line is that Batman does have good toys, but the real weapon is Batman himself.

And Max is a tough guy who is smart and has reflexes, but the bottom line is the real weapon is his car. I am glad they chose to delete the scene "Max arms himself" from MM1 because it would have shifted the focus away from the car as his primary weapon.

And with the title Fury Road, I certainly don't expect to see any mule drawn covered wagons. I expect (hope, pray) to see heavily armoured scary vehicles with big knobby tires and unnecessarily loud exhaust and protruding rusty edges. I want Mel Gibson to have to get a tetanus shot.

I am BatMax.
