Possibility of shooting two (proposed) sequels back-to-back?

In this current abyss of no forthcoming news regarding future Mad Max films, I've been wondering if there could be a possibility of shooting the next two (proposed) films back-to-back.

As many of you know, there had been talk of shooting two Tom Hardy M.M. films back-to-back before the production of Fury Road.

It's only a consideration, but maybe one worth pondering, due to the eagerness of Hardy to get going with the next instalment, coupled with the slow progress from the production/green light of the shoot.

Highly unlikely. Mad Max is in a very complicated relationship with WB and Miller at this point and I don't see how they could make one, let alone two Mad Max movies right now.

Also regarding the supposed shooting of two films back to back when they were making Fury Road:

This information greatly untrue.
There was no chance of any complimentary Mad Max movie/video game/anime past 2011. WB tanked too much money into Fury Road at Broken Hill and when the desert became green, WB, arguably - got very pissed off that they had to spend even more on changing the location of the shoot. This lead to a loooot and looooot of problems, which I'll keep to myself for the time being but the bottom line is - it was not going to happen then and it's not going to happen now. Things got really complicated behind the scenes. It goes way beyond what fans and the cast wants.

Your last point is very obvious, as this is the case for any business that wishes to be successful (and investors of any type, would in normal circumstances, want to see a return on their investment).

Regarding your other points, nobody can say anything until everything has been laid bare for all to read (assuming that what is possibly eventually revealed, is the truth).

As mentioned in my initial post, the ideas/discussion of having two films filmed back-to-back is only a thought and not etched in stone.

Nobody knows the future of the franchise, and until an official statement has been made, then everything is very much 'up in the air'.

After the huge gamble of Fury Road barely paid of commercially there is no way on this planet WB would shoot back to back sequels, no way. They'd be crazy to do that as FR was no box office slam dunk. It did well but the huge budget really hurt the profit margin.

Miller is too old to go thru shooting such a hard to make movie again. Remember he had heart failure on FR and they had to close the shoot until he recovered, then it was finished with his close associates doing most of the directing while he would sit in a tent watching the cam footage.

But it doesn't have to be Miller directing (as much as I would prefer that).

Fury Road got so much critical acclaim I can't see why they wouldn't want to keep the new franchise going, even if it wasn't a financial windfall the last time around. The franchise is rebooted now, and more established with a new audience. The sequel to Fury Road should automatically do better at the box office.

a sequel doing better at the box office is definitely not a foregone conclusion. I could see a sequel to Fury Road doing similar or even less than FR at the box office. This is a fairly niche franchise and these days with budgets being as huge as they are it's a massive gamble. The Mad Max universe is just too out there for a lot of audience members.
