prohibited area
prohibited area
In Mad Max, after the death of The Toe Cutter, Max drives past a "prohibited area" sign.
Does anyone know why the area is prohibited?
Sorry if it's been brought up before, but it's just something I've alway wondered about

Re: prohibited area
Certain land in remote areas are designated military grounds, warning signs back then were in place as testing and armed forces were present in training.
You would find makeshift sheds and vehicles in there and were usually exploded, it is highly illegal to enter these grounds as well as dangerous to your health...
I think some chemical testing also took place hence the skull & crossbone...

Re: prohibited area
I think in the context of the movie, the sign was a warning to civilians not to go there. I think it was prohibited because of the lawlessness there, the nomad trash, marauders, no police in that area, high death rate, etc.

Re: prohibited area
Were both signs just made up for the movie or were they real signs that you had at the time?
I always wondered about the restricted area myself.

The chain in those handcuffs is high-tensile steel, it'll take you ten minutes to hack through it with this, now if your lucky ? you can hack through your ankle in five minutes. Go !

Re: prohibited area
Anything past the posted signs is outside of MFP patrol routes and jurisdiction. If you listen to dispatch she reminds the officers to "respect territorial range". Once you pass those markers radio communications become weaker and the level of danger increases exponentially.

It's a representation of where Max is going in his mind.
