Coupe with modification
Re: Coupe with modification
This coupe definitely must've been inspired by MM2. Not quite the 18 spoke turbine wheels like the interceptor has but still looks the part.

Re: Coupe with modification
I would often see this coupe on my way home from school. It had an number 8 black cue ball for a gear knob. The hole in the bonnet for the shaker scoop looks very much like the hole cut out for the red XA bat car.

Re: Coupe with modification
I saw MM1 in December of 1980, and MM2 a year and a half later, and they changed my life. Thirtysomething years on and I'm still learning and seeing new things in the movies. I appreciate your willingness to share and I will devour it hungrily. Thanks!

I think it's safe to say the Films have changed many of our lives. Sometimes it's a case of life imitating art literally by accident. Could it be possible that such a movie which is considered to be a cult classic somehow demands a devoted fan to endure physical pain as a way of initiation ? I know that there are fans who have had near death experiences attributed to their passions as though there were a curse. In my case for instance, I was involved in a death defying motor vehicle accident during the course of delivering parts to construct an interceptor replica. I was hospitalized for two years. Not a day went by without keeping the determination. Funny enough, met a nurse and have been with her ever since too. Do you ever wonder where you would be today if Mad Max didn't exist?

Re: Coupe with modification
This coupe was unlike any other. A genuine Ford Cobra # 40 of 400. It featured in the April/May 1985 Street Machine magazine . It was labelled the Rattlesnake. It took a very expensive engineer to modify the roof into a T-Top for the multi- millionaire owner. Unfortunately, it was money not well spent because although the T-top roof was nice in theory, it practically compromised the roof''s integrity causing it to buckle under stress. What reader's also didn't know was that this car had a wing spoiler taken from a Ford Mach 1 mustang. No photos of it though.

Re: Coupe with modification
Here's a coupe with rear flares adopted from a Holden A9X Torana. It is my understanding that these are the type of flares not only used on the pursuit cars but also used as the base flares for the rear of the pursuit special. A little chicken wire, some foam and plenty of body filler was applied to the flares giving them a whole new style. If you look closely enough, you could see the edge line of the A9X flare and see that it is almost if not identical to that of the pursuit special's rear flare.

Re: Coupe with modification
Actually this coupe was mine back in the day. Yes it did have a functional supercharger . Sure I didn't have all the right Movie correct items, but back then in the early 80's they were hard to source and like George , we did what we could to atleast feel the part. These days I live in Southern California and have one of the American Interceptors with me that also has a real supercharger but this one also has a functional Scott Injection system. Also I have the running gear for another Interceptor . It is a 460 big block with port injection and a functional Scott Injection Unit but done to my specifications. You can see some of my videos on U-tube at the moment under CROC CUSTOM or Anthony Convince. Attached is the latest motor for my future Interceptor plus Jeff Butlers Functional supercharged Interceptor. This was the one that was on 'Jay Leno's Garage'. even if it was for only 3 seconds....LOLG Kritty wrote:This coupe is/was from the Australian Capital Territory.
