Mad Max in New Aviation Book

Hello all,

Perhaps a slightly side topic for many MM fans here but I thought everyone would like to know some info regarding the "aero" aspects of the MM movies.

I've just published my first book titled "The Aircraft-Spotter's Film and Television Companion" containing 350 movies and TV shows featuring aircraft or
helicopters. It is in print or ebook form and can purchased through Amazon or similar websites by typing in the title.

Of interest to MM fans is the section covering the Autogyro in MM2 and the PL-12 Airtruk in MM3. Autogyro Pilot Gerry Goodwin was kind enough to send me
a picture of the Gyro plus some very interesting data. It also contains some info on Byron Kennedy's Jet Ranger and a photo of the original Airtruk which
crashed during the filming of MM3.

I seem to remember a thread some years ago, showing photos of the original Airtruk from MMBTD partly disassembled in a museum or hanger somewhere. There was some discussion about The unlikeliness of it ever being airworthy again due to missing parts, and the difficulty of transporting it anywhere because of its size. Seems like it should be in Adrians museum though.

I also do remember a thread of some years ago about the actual Airtruk. The photo's in that threat of the Airtruk display it as it was repainted pink or something. I have no idea what further became of the plain. But it indeed needs to be in Adrian's museum, regardless the non flying condition. Just put it back together as a whole plain. Doesn't matter it has some missing parts. As long that it is not visible and make the colour correct again.

Hi, the museum in question is now shut down. I have not been able to contact the owner, I tried while writing the book to obtain some new photos and yes, there was a site some years ago showing it painted pink and disassembled.

I'll try again to see whats happened to the collection as Adrian's museum would be a great place for VH-EVY to retire too.

To further the above reply. The museum the MM3 aeroplane was on display at was the Drage Airworld Museum at Wangaratta, about 200 km northeast of Melbourne. The aircraft suffered a mishap in 1988 and never flew again. It went to
Drage about 1990 and stayed there until the museum closed in 2002. The collection was sold off by the local council who gained control of the collection when Joe Drage died. Many of the World War 2 aircraft were eagerly purchased but the disassembled Airtruk's whereabouts are unknown. I'm trying to contact various people to see whats happened to it.
