Coupe with modification

In 1982, I became obsessed in keeping an eye out for coupes after seeing Mad Max 2. It was the last screening and like most of us, I walked out of the theater a changed person. I fell into even a deeper trance when I found out about the first film. In 1983, I was 16 yrs old when I came across this white 1976 XB fairmont coupe with a nosecone.
I have dozens of old pics of coupes from the 80's. This is one of my favorites . Thought I'd share it.

What's interesting about this particular coupe is that it has the movie correct rear boot spoiler. So this is what the actual spoiler looked like before it was blended into the panels as we know it on the film car. Similar to the Holden HQ monaro, yet designed to suit a Ford coupe. Most replica interceptors are fitted with a cut back XC Cobra rear spoiler which completes the car close to just the same.

Hi Curtis, I've been around for half a century now and want to share some pics I think fans may appreciate. When you consider the timeline of humans on Earth, you start to realise what a tiny fraction is limited to us all. I don't know if I was just lucky to exist in the era of Mad Max or if destiny decided it. In the 80's, I thought I was the only one for a passion of the interceptor until the internet came along. I'm thankful to Peter Barton for such a comprehensive website which brings contributions from all over the world. I've have learnt a lot from just this site alone . My imput of 'trash' is another person's treasure so please enjoy what I post because "it would've been a shame to blow it up".
Here's some pics of the rarest rear spoiler suitable for a tribute car. Note: This happens to be a one piece. I wonder if the film car builders had it just like this and cut it into a three piece spoiler?

This coupe is/was from the Australian Capital Territory. The first I've ever seen with a real functioning blower.

In 1986, Street Machine Magazine promoted a competition to win a car known as the Castrol Coupe. In the proposed concept, the coupe was originally to be fitted with a nosecone and rear spoiler. Due to popular demand, these two items were scratched . The nosecone itself was too seventies and far too synonymous with Mad Max. The approach towards the Castrol Coupe was to equip it with the best of contemporary gear. I took the liberty of correcting the finished product in the last pic of three.

This XB coupe was known as the God Father. I never understood why but everytime it showed up, I could hear people refer to it as such. Perhaps the owner was a fan of the GF films ? It was in this car that I first had the experience of sitting in the driver's seat and seeing what a coupe looked like from within. I remember looking through the driver's door rearview mirror and seeing the curviture of the rear quarter panel. Quite a reveIation for me. I remember looking over towards the passenger side quarter window and discovering what a potential hazard the blind spot was but did I care ? F*#k no. The wheel arches on this coupe were fasinating because they were panel beaten to resemble the flares of a 1979 Porche 911. No fibreglass was applied. I wish I had taken better pics.
