I haven't read the comics yet, I had hoped for a novel as these often have exposition not able to be in a film - the backstory in the MM1 novel was awesome!
I'm not trying to detract from MMFR, I still uphold it as being the best film this side of the year 2000, but this little fact has always bugged me.
Originally Fury Road was supposed to have Mel Gibson it in and be part of the original franchise, but after 2003 they switched up the main actor and called it a reboot - that's why the original continuity stopped making sense in Fury Road albeit stil being there. It's really fascinating to find out how Fury Road came about and I hope one day to show everyone the complete story. In the process of finding out everything I could I got in contact with a lot of wonderful folks from the production of Fury Road and currently I'm gathering all this info into a book about the origins of Fury Road. I hope that it answers all those questions once and for all. Sorry for being off topic, just throwing it out there.
Ahhh.....Man , I can't wait to read that ! I have often wondered why the cryptic hints at insider knowledge when you must be dying to set some people straight....I had hoped this was the reason ,Awesome news Taipan , put me down for a couple of copies !

Really looking forward to what you dig up. I'm finding your insight into how Fury Road developed way more entertaining than the movie itself.
