Gordon Hayes Pursuit Special/Interceptor interview

Post by Lonewolf »

Gordon Hayes is shown with his great Mad Max Pursuit Special/Interceptor in this youtube clip. Although the interview and the car are filmed in Australia, this is an interview with German narration dubbed over it. Some of what is said can be understood, when Gordon can be heard speaking in the background. I only wish I could understand all of it, as he goes into detail about what goes into making one of these beauties. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOJNgEadBuI

Nice video. The German narration is a bit irritating indeed. My English is better than my German. But I could understand 75-80% of it anyway.
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

Agree with NightWalker. Nice Video. Yhe German overdub is irritating but worth a look to see an old friend.

One of my cherished memories includes driving beside Jake Dark's Interceptor at highway speed while Mad Maxwell snapped photos from the back of his rig, I look over and see a leather clad Vernon Wells in the passenger seat givng me a wide evil-smile as Jake stabs the throttle. The black jet with blower screaming .............bolted like a Saturn V.

That is hilariously funny, and disturbing in an unfortunate way, all at once!
At least Vernon had his lawyer on 'speed dial' :-)
