If Fury Road Is So Good
Re: If Fury Road Is So Good
so what do i have to do to prove this? Take a video of the 3 of them watching the movies? All im saying is it really made an impression on me that at the theatre, my 2 kids really questioned Fury Road and honestly didnt care for it. However they like the story of Mad Max (having a family, being a dad). I am thankful Fury Road was made, its George Miller's baby and I respect that. All im posting is that I find it interesting that they dont like the film. If it is so good then i wonder why it doesnt hold their interest but the original 2 do??? if this post is pissing you all of then have a moderator ban me. makes no difference to me.

Well my 4 kids - 2 females, 2 males, aging from 18 down to 9 years old, love it.
But this sure is one unusual thread.
Calling us either intellectual, because children don't have the same attention span as us, or dumb arses, because your kids have more taste?

So your kids didn't liked Fury Road.!? Well, thats o.k.
Perhaps no one on earth, except your own children, can tell you the exact reasons why.
Again, please ask your kids if you wanna know the answer.

Firstly, the responses you've received here mocking you, your children, and your parenting, are completely unacceptable, and as a moderator, I've certainly taken notice. But please be aware, as Taipan points out, your original post did read like it was trolling - particularly because it echoed some of the constant criticisms of an infamous troll here. So let's all chill out, give each other the benefit of the doubt, and talk Max.
Kids are remarkably tuned in to serious in your face life affirming themes. Love, parenthood, death, loss, mourning, bravery, peril, rescue, kinsmanship, are just some of the themes kids will act out all day long. Mad Max and The Road Warrior, while comparatively slow movies, run thick with quite shocking easily relatable themes. Fury Road doesn't, the themes are more nuanced and on level of scope even some adults struggle to appreciate (sex slavery, global warming, religious indoctrination). One theme that Road Warrior keeps hammering home is the scarcity of resources (gasoline specifically) and how this raises the constant peril of vulnerability. Gasoline is mentioned constantly, both in dialogue and visually, and we regularly see people on both sides die horrible deaths to either defend or scavenge for it. Fury Road doesn't do this, it's a chase movie. While food and fuel are covered, it's not obvious and mostly referenced in dialogue, and what doesn't help is how the attitude toward fuel in Fury Road is countered by the preceding movies. This has sadly caused Fury Road to feel a little contrived, especially when you factor in all the bullets. When it comes to vulnerability, Fury Road shows the musclebound hero as indestructible, taking arrows directly to the head while making spiderman-esc jumps from car to car. By comparison to the earlier movies, the Fury Road deaths are glorious - no getting dragged off to be tortured and raped. This all said, a pregnant woman falling under the tires of a monster truck is hard to ignore. It could be argued that, in a way, Fury Road is the more intellectually challenging movie because, among non-stop action, you have to focus more and think harder about the messages it's trying to put across.

Hmm I didnt realize you had major troll issues in the past and I do see how my orirginal post could seem like one but it was just an honest observation. I figured my kids would like it more because of all the visuals and such but this wasnt the case. I do own the Fury Road dvd and plan on watching it many time over the years with my kids. Maybe in time they will like it better. I know that is the case for me. The more I watch it, the more I seem to enjoy it.

The more we revisit Fury Road the less we are going to focus on the action and the more we're going to focus on the nuances. What's more, those of us highly critical of film due to certain elements should start to care less and less about them over time. For many it's going to hold a set of values that really coincide with how they are maturing.

Re: If Fury Road Is So Good
my only take away here is how much i dont care about other people's kids.
on it's own, i like it. as a mad max movie, i like it. i bought the dvd and i've been buying tons of other dvds lately. as it turns out, i cant focus on watching any of them and i dont have any legitimate reason why i cant sit down and pay attention to a movie at home anymore. even ones i've been REALLY wanting for a long time like THEY LIVE.

Re: If Fury Road Is So Good
Mine has severe ADHD, and for that reason I expected him to like it more than he did, considering how much he liked the first two. Fury Road is like Captain Crunch with Crunchberries, only 100% crunchberries. All crescendo, all the time. If this movie can't keep your attention nothing will. Strangely enough we both had the same reaction.Artemis Flow wrote:obvious troll - there I feel better

Is it supposed to be surprising people have different tastes and opinions on what they like/dislike? I guess all I can say about this thread is welcome to the human race.
