I am aware of the differences, I was trying to wittily vocalise my distaste for the official stories as told in the comics so far.

I'll replace it with my own "headcanon" instead, which is much more cool, and involves at least some lesbian kissing.

I might be alone but I liked the comic. I was always happy for Fury Road to tie in with the original trilogy. Im a bit baffled why some were almost desperate for it not to?
I mean the original movies are what we invested in for 30 plus years, the whole reboot thing was far less appealing. It would have left the originals on a very poor note (BTD) and now I feel the whole thing is more satisfying again.Each to their own I suppose. I just don't know why you wouldn't want Hardy's Max to have all that great backstory??

As for the comic, I really liked the Max issue. Waay better than the Furiosa one which is the biggest waste of £4.30 I can recall. Nice to see the Buzzards feature, and that's a very creepy image of the people eater who is obviously a out & out sexual deviant. Is the announcer at the new Thunderdome meant to be the same as in BTD?? I can see similiarities even though he's disfigured??

I realy liked the artwork depicting MM1, 2 & 3. Great drawing of the roadtrain, MM2 opening chase and Max running into the acolytes head on. The art really captures the sense of motion. There is some minor inaccuracies in there though; that MM2 opening chase is depicted slightly different, Max seems to be missing his leather gloves when hes mopping up the petrol from the crash, also when hes looking down at the compound from the hill, theres no gyrocaptain present. Little things really.
When you see Terminator Genesys and see the total failure to match the 1984 punks vs Arnie scene with the original Terminator, youll certainly forgive this!!

The biggest change for me is that we see a nuclear fireball PRIOR to Mad Max 2 making it post nuclear, its always been held that this didn't happen until after MM2 so Im guessing this is just a retcon? Another thing is the world looks like its really going to hell by Mad Max; the cities look to be very dangerous, this looks a bit at odds with Mad Max the movie where life seems pretty normal as long as you don't bump into any mad bikers!!

Judging by those preview pics, it looks like this is going to be yet another Mad Max comic with almost no cars or driving in it. If I wanted that, I'd go watch Cormack McCarthy's "The Road," or Kevin Costner's "The Postman" again.

Just done reading the new comic book, i enjoyed it but storywise it is very slight so it's not going to win anyone over who was on the fence about these comics.

The best thing about it getting to see some ruined cities and some cool underground ruined parts. These are the kinds of things i hope to see if we ever get a Fury Road sequel.

Personally i've enjoyed every one of these prequel comics, i know they're not loved by everyone but i'm very glad we got them, it would have been easy for them not to bother doing any for fans.

Finished reading my copy too.

There are a couple of interesting things in it, like Max quoting Martin Luther King, or the mysterious figure in a robe at the very end. Other than that, it went pretty much as expected.
Still doesn't explain why Glory referred to Max as 'Pa' in Fury Road, maybe in his mind he was mixing up the death of his child and Glory, or maybe it was done on purpose. It's going to be interesting to see how the game developers weasel their way out of this one because in it, Max keeps a picture of what I assume is his wife and daughter? Maybe they thought that Glory was Max's kid in Fury Road and went along with it, just like a lot of us did long ago.

Anyway, we at least know now that Fury Road takes place quite some time after the events in this comic book, maybe even years. BTW, they're really driving home the point that Max is heavily clinging onto the past. Much more than I'd thought to be honest, it does make Max look insane. I personally preferred Max from the original trilogy, collected and cool, a loner. This one's a lost cause, obsessively holding onto the past, not a big fan of that.

Honestly, I always thought the figure calling him "Pa" was meant to be the ghost of his dead son and that was the final push for Max to help the collective and resist the urge to go it alone again. It's one of the more obvious changes from the rough cut of the movie, where in that scene it's very clearly Glory and she calls him "Max", not "Pa". As with almost everything else in FR though, that's just one interpretation.

Yeah i wonder who that cloaked figure at the end is supposed to be. of course it takes place in the bookends which we know occur much further in the future. Could be an elderly Furiosa?

I wonder how much further in the future (after the events of Fury Road) the book ends/ wordburger scenes are supposed to take place? The Citadel has a village established at its base and a new, more peaceful regime has clearly been in charge of The Citadel for quite some time.
