to me all of these seem reasonable, I think the reason i am able to watch these over and over is because there are a few ways to look at each scene so it constantly seems new and strange and so much of the beauty of the movie is its need to not explain everything and just let the imagination wanderer off in weird directions. But all of these support that it was not the only V8 engine left in the world, so the bigger question of Max rebuilding a V8 for Fury Road still may seem unlikely to some but it is not impossible, go to a junk yard and look around even the most exploded and damaged cars often have at least something salvageable, stuff that by our standards would be garbage because it is cheaper to just buy a new part, but if you did not have that option like in the FR world, you could take a bent up burnt out frame and try to twist it back into shape

cars are made from factory made mass produced parts, even if it was the last, that would only be until someone found the parts and built another.
The BoB wasn't cobbled together from old wrecks. Because Max, the top pursuit man, wanted to leave the force, his boss Fifi has managed to get the funding for a special pursuit vehicle that would seduce Max to stay with the force. That piece of 'candy' was financed by Labatouche, who is the boss of Fifi or the head of the MFP and didn't like wasting money. Max's colleagues and the mechanic all knew about this and had to keep this from Max. So, the mechanic just says he got it together with a piece from here and a piece from there to give a convincing explanation without drawing suspicion.

I am well aware of the role of Labatouche and the funding, but still think the reason that they could not get V8s was because no one was manufacturing them due to gas shortages. I do not think they just bought that car and showed it to max, i think they bought parts and put the car together, or took one of the existing cars and highly customized it, since some parts were probably rare and hard to come by they may have had toscavenged them.

although if it actually was the very last production model to roll off the assembly line that would make more sense about when the mechanic in MM2 knows all about it. Hmmm. I always thought that the car was either specifically famous because a rogue MFP officer stole it and went on a rampage, then had wanted posters and media coverage, or because they just meant that it was one of the last models of V8 ever built.

Still to think he would be able to put together a car at any time post MM1 2 or 3 is not unreasonable considering the Buzzards and Joe are all building cars, plus bartertown had built some post apocalypse, and what was that thing Papagallow drove.

plus if you have seen what people can do in their garages at home with the right tools, most people dont realize how easy it is to customize or fabricate a lot of car parts. Look at some of these Harley Davidsons that people combine parts from all different models and create things and just make parts fit when they are not even the right model or make.
Also if we look at the gameplay trailer, well see a couple of shots of falcons with allready attached nosecons, so in this MM universe, The Interceptor allready had most of it looks in production version (with futuristic nosecone), for police, car was just a little bit tuned with a bigger and more powerful engine and painted in black, like the Nightriders Monaro. And after annihilation of Interceptor in RW, Max somewhere found a new donor car and rebuilted it to MFP specs

the inaccuracies do not matter, they neither prove or disprove the original trilogy, the movie itself provides enough clues to how it connects for anyone who is willing to see them, if you cant work things out in your mind that is OK too because the film is a great story on its own. Evryone is fixating on Glory the child and the car. Cars can be rebuilt, and they way she says "you promised to help us" makes me think glory is not supposed to be Max's daughter, still waiting for those books but even without them the story seems to work just fine if you can accept the change of actors. Tom did great I could totally buy into him being the same Max Rockatansky.

My thoughts on the Black on Black (From the original Trilogy, anyway)...

In my personal opinion of the timeline, "A few Years from Now" was just that, a few years (five-ish?) after the "Now" of the original release date...
So MM1 took place somewhere around 1984-ish.

In this world, my thoughts are that the OPEC embargoes of the '70's were never lifted, limiting the fuel supplies around the world and driving petrol prices to ridiculous highs - I'm talking $10 a gallon or more by the time the events of MM1 take place.

In this world, the V-8 became a very expensive option to purchase and to fuel and became more and more rare.... eventually, only government agencies and police forces could afford to fuel them.

In a last ditch effort to boost sales, One manufacturer produced a prototype running a one-off, modular D.O.H.C. V-8 capable of running dual fuel.. Petrol and Nitro-Methane.

The company folded and this prototype was sold to the Main Force Patrol.

(This is why the Mechanic recognized the car)

I believe the few years from now was intentionaly used to avoid obsolescence. It is a few years from now, meaning whenever you are watching it. This is a very smart move to keep the film timeless. If you watch Blade runner or 2001 a space odyssey, or Orwel'ls 1984 you will think, well that never happened, and the films loose a certain quality of legitimacy and become dated.

What is the Main Force Patrol? It is a police force created in reaction to the highways becoming a white line nightmare. I think in the near future the war between two waring tribes that engulfed them all requires a certain amount of time to set up. Start today and imagine that the oil fields are ablaze and imports have all but ceased. At the time of MM1 the leaders are talking hoping to find a resolution but the country is living off oil reserves, they will run out soon if peace is not restored. So when peace is not restored and the reserves run dry we are now in the era of MM2. Then the limited Nuclear war happens.

you could timelime it out as follows:

tommorrow WW3 or the oil wars start. See the intro to MM2.

+10 years MM1 the world is barely hanging on, Max is about 22-23.

+3 years Max is 25 MM2 happens.

+10 years Thunderdome occurs max is 35.

+10 years Fury Road occurs Max is 45 and the 33 years since the bad day all lines up, Furiosa's 20 year origin and the rise of the citadel have plenty of time to take place. The story of the car and equipment and Glory the child and all that have plenty of time to develop without contradicting anything. And the fact that a 37 year old actor portrays a 45 year old is not that hard to imagine.

I'm hearing you.....People tend to miss the fact that the world had already had some major catastrophe years before Mad Max 1 , remembering it would take time for the law to degrade from what we know now , to the MFP we see on the screen . 10 years sounds about right .plus a big issue with peoples timeline theories is the amount of development in the wasteland being too advanced . I think again some are overlooking the fact that the wasteland existed long before the last of civilization fell apart ( prohibited zone ) .I like your timeline and the only difference for me is that the BOB wasn't destroyed......Just the feral kid's memory has faded along with his eyesight when telling the legend of the Road warrior ( MY sight Fades , THE vision dims ). Good to read a timeline that doesn't throw anything out from the original...doesn't rely on alternate universes.... doesn't require a literacy lesson on the difference between re-boot and re-imagining , it just works! I like it

well thanks for the support, :D I believe artists who are masterminds like George Miller actually appreciate open interpretations and that is the explicit reason they leave things vague, much like the philosophy of violence in the films. If we suggest it but do not show it, it lets the audience fill in the gaps and imagine whatever it is that they need to know to connect the dots and believe the story, and it may be far worse than anything that could be shown on screen. When I was in college I took some elective English Literature classes. They were so fun to see how people who read the same words took so many different views of the material, debating and sharing with those who disagree would lead to much greater insight and enlightenment than just forming a consensus opinion. I welcome every fan to enjoy the film as best suited to their own tastes as reboot, sequel, or whatever. Sure if you think you have found the answer share your insights with the community, but please do not tell others they are wrong. Great art is in the eye of the beholder and if you love Mad Max through a different prism than I do, then that is great! If you want it to be a reboot that is great, for any who are having trouble conforming all the elements together into one cohesive story, but want to, I am here to help if you need me, because for me I have seen the light! The comic really helped form my views. As far as the car goes I am still hoping that will be explained in one of the upcoming issues.

extreme intolerance of differing view points is not a virtue. Why do you care if people enjoy the film differently than you do. Why are people who are able to see a bigger picture ridiculed by those who are not. GO READ THE COMIC...more evidence of the sequel connections will be revealed tommorrow with Furiosa #1'

if you were accused of a crime you did not commit, would you want the jury or judge to read the first set of facts to come out one time and make a snap decision before all of the other facts were in, no I do not think so.

if you were sick would you want a second opinion, would you want them to do more tests or just give you a snap diagnosis. The facts are not all out regarding MM FR, this story is still being told...so please hold off your final judgement
