I'm praying for the 400 million dollars figure. Just like Tron Legacy. That would be too great to be true.

I was reading an article about Avengers 2 and how they wanted a larger cut for that movie, it gave the figures and said that theaters keep 53% of the money they take in and 47% gos back to the studio. So with the total production and marketing budget around 200 million fury road needs to hit some where around $400 mil just to break even. It may get there with Japan and China but it will definitely get there with DVD and blu ray. I was looking at the box office mojo site and FR is currently the #318 highest grossing film based on international box office. The adjusted for inflation doesn't go past 200 but i think FR would still rate in the top 500 already. This may not sound that impressive, but it is out of all films ever released so it is pretty impressive actually, especially being rated R in the USA.
Step right up, chum, and watch the kid lay down the rubber road, ride to freedom!

I was reading some articles lately on similar stuff regarding the money Fury Road is making, but more importantly the discussions accompanying them. Most people said roughly the same as you mentioned here, studio gets about 50%, however they also said it varies by country. People were talking about when Fury Road will hit China and most said the studio take there is only 25%. I searched and found a 2012 article that stated there was a new system introduced at the time which set the take at 25%, so it's probably correct.Knightrider wrote:I was reading an article about Avengers 2 and how they wanted a larger cut for that movie, it gave the figures and said that theaters keep 53% of the money they take in and 47% gos back to the studio.
