none of these movies are specifically about max.
This is what most people seemed to forget. The other day i saw someone commented on a Mad Max post in Facebook blaming Hardy for crashing the Interceptor and being captured, like wtf man.

I don't know if I can agree really, I mean don't you ever get sick of being told what you should or shouldn't focus on or care about in a movie?

Who's the central character?
A central character has to have a story arc.

In MM, Max's arc was a law abiding cop who is turned to revenge

In MM2, Max's arc is finding redemption (Papagalio actually says it) by helping the future Northern tribe

In MM3, Max's arc is pretty flat -save the kids.

In MM4, Max's arc is getting his jacket back. Furiosa doesn't have an arc. Nux is the only only who has a story arc. A Valhalla believing war boy who discovers the truth and turns on his false god, saving people. By all accounts, it should have been called Nux's tale.

I didnt want to create a new thread to ask this question so i thiught i would put it here as it botherd me, just wondering why tom hardy grew a beard for fury road when the only shot of a wild max is when he crawling out the wrecked v8, they obviously used a wig for his long hair so why not a fake beard. I know its a trivial question but i loved the look of wild max and was hoping to have seen more him with that look.

there was probably a lot more filmed that was cut, and the way it was all back shots and silhouettes and they didn't reveal his face until later makes me think the original idea was to hide his appearance for as long as possible, so you were invested in the character before seeing who it actually was. Then when Batman and Bane became cashable items, marketing decided to go the full "Hey! Bane is now Mad Max" route to drum up interest.

Balls. Max as an arc. If you don't see it, too bad for you.

I think you missed a "h", and if, as you claim he "as" an emotional or developmental arc in FR, what was it?

furiosa has an arc man.

she's taking the plot devices to point b, and then has to take them back to a.

I really found the opening 10 mins disappointing; not just the premature demise of the interceptor but the fact that the chase was literally no more than in the first trailer. The lack of a decent montage was a disappointment. It was one of my fav things about MM2; I had hoped that they set the world up a bit better. I think they could have mixed a few shots from the original with some new footage to please old & new fans. It was one of my main faults with the 3rd movie. Look at just how strong an opening MM2 has (its my fav part of the movie) the chase condenses every element into it.

And don't get me started on Hardy being dragged along behind the car to the citadel; it just looks comical, like he's got severe piles!!!! Thankfully, the movie improved so exponentionally that that first 5 mins feels almost from another movie. Really hope any directors cut might improve that opening for me.
