I don't get what they are doing to max other then using him as nux's dialysis machine? They carved a bunch of stuff on his back and branded him with the logo. Is he just immortan joes property or something? I was setting 10 feet away from the screen so it was kind of hard to tell what was going on in some parts.

You could say his 'medical status' was tattooed on his back. The branding was to make clear he is the property of the Immortan Joe gang. And he was used as a living bloodbag by Nux. All the warboys are sick and need a constant supply of new healthy blood.

He was also a universal donor - He didn't have a specific bloodtype, which means he can donate blood to ANYONE, so in that world he's very important and i suspect they woulda fed him up and kept him alive for as long as they possibly could, bleeding him slowly.
Remember the Organic mechanic said "CAREFUL HE'S A UNIVERSAL DONOR"

I'm guessing with tattoos like GENITALS INTACT, PISS GOOD etc, that when he'd finally expired they'd probably harvest his parts.

No i don't think they had time to brand him after he got caught again, i think he was too much of a fuckin handful, i mean it took around 6 warboys to pull him back in.
