The Thursday showings were low at our theater. The 10:00 PM 3D show had about a dozen people. When I had stopped by the day before even the theater staff didn't know the movie was opening on Thursday.

On box office numbers reported so far, Fury Road is killing it. I've got complete confidence that once word gets out, people are going to flock to see this. According to the article below, it's #1 in France (with more than 50% of the top 5 share), it's #1 in Australia, beating out Pitch Perfect 2 (opened last week) & Avengers (opened 3 weeks ago), etc. They apparently even opened Pitch Perfect 2 a week early here just so it wouldn't be competing head to head - not that I would have personally thought they were even targeting the same audience, the fact that anyone even considered trying to split the two tells you how big a drawcard they think Fury Road will be.

It's certainly a wait and see game, but if Furious 7 - a film people basically go to see for the car action - can pull over $1B international, Fury Road should pull that audience and then some, given what it has to offer.

I would think George Miller would certain have the option to continue the series if he chose to do so. But he himself has already said "if we get the appetite again". It's important to remember that Fury Road was 12 years (or more) in the making, and I wouldn't see them ramping up for the next one in a hurry. Even if they did, the logistics on this were just huge, you'd be looking at another 3 to 5 years to even see it - if they started now. For the moment I'm completely happy with what he has given us in Fury Road, and will certainly be seeing it again more than once. If we get another extension to the series in the future, that's just a bonus for me at this point.

Went last night at the 6.45PM screening (after 40mins of ADVERTS!!! im surprised no one walked out).
There wouldve been at least 50 to 60 people (we are a town of 180000) and we have 3 cinemas showing it.
The audience was quiet, i couldnt hear any comments sadly to gauge if they liked it or not.
They were mostly in the early 20s as well.

Just got back from another showing. 6:40 showing. Audience was about 50% of the theater this time, so not all that bad. Mix of old and young, a few people brought kids who were a little young to be there IMHO, but oh well. One early 20's fellow said he had trouble following the plot, but that was the only comment I heard.

Must just be a little weak in my area is all.

He said in a recent interview though that he's excited and roaring to go for another one, it just depends on how Fury Road performs at the box office and WB let him. I guess a interviewer was with him at the time the reviews dropped and asked Miller if he heard what they're saying and when he said no the interviewer told him everyone was going positively ecstatic over it and Miller I guess threw his hands in triumph and let out a happy "Yeah!!". You'd have to think the insane critical praise would not only further invigorate the man but hopefully sway the studio too.

That said I guess both Pitch Perfect and Fury Road will be pulling in over $50 million EACH this weekend in the US. Thats incredible.

Great NEWS! There are VERY FEW IF ANY available seats for ALL the FR showtimes here in Vegas/Henderson area for the rest of the weekend!

If you want to see it by the end of this weekend there are a few 3D seats available and that is it.

We got a big hit on our hands folks!!!

I think it depends on the time that you go. I went today at 3:30 pm to see the 3D showing, and there was at least ten people in the viewing. I think generally people are just night time movie watchers.

And I have to say; IT WAS AWESOOOOOME!!
