other interceptors/pursuit specials in MM2?

Post by Spitfire »

Was thinking today, in MM1 both the black pursuit specials (Nightriders and Max's) are different models/have a different look. I mean, there isnt one uniform 'look' for an interceptor, in comparison to the yellow pursuit cars.

Now in MM2 there's a couple different cars the gangs use that could be considered pursuit specials too: the 1974 HQ Holden Statesman and perhaps the black and white police car...
heres the thread for quick reference http://madmaxmovies.com/mad-max-2-the-r ... index.html

Check out the Statesman though, its got a siren, its black and has a supercharger (and driven by badcops) similar to the theme of the other pursuit specials.

reckon they may be considered MFP pursuit specials too?

After watching it so many times, including yesterday. I'm more and more convinced that the Landau was just like the Night Rider's Holden and the BoB Max drives off with, a police issue Pursuit Special. It feels like someone kind of irony and reflection of Mad Max 1. Max is driving in a stolen Pursuit Special and is being chased by another one, only Max's is the last series of the Pursuit/Interceptors to be created.

My thoughts exactly. A couple of cars in MM2 definitely look like ex-MFP, possibly Interceptors either acquired by marauders or modified by ex-cops (bad cops).

1974 HQ Holden Statesman looks like a salvaged ex-MFP vehicle, cobbed together with quite random parts (jeep grille).

1974 ZG Fairlane (B&W cop car) was definitely ex-MFP.

1971 Valiant Charger/Force 10 Charger - looks ex-MFP to me, just with a different paint scheme.

yeah true, theres a lot similar with the opening chase scenes in MM1 and mm2.

yeah interesting isnt it? I thought, surely because Max has the better car he can outrun most of those guys, but maybe just cos hes a better driver haha
