Thanks guy! I agree, FURY ROAD looks like a game changer, and I don't understand how anyone can not like what we have been shown from FURY ROAD. I'm really rooting for this film.

Because some of us remember the first time we say the trailer for MMBTD and scoured through StarLog, Fangora, and anything we could to learn about the next MM movie and were so excited to see him onscreen again. We then lined up to see it opening night and walked out of the movie wondering what happened. So yes, some of us are approaching this with in caution.
just my 2 cents

It was worse for me, I waited for it to come out on VHS which I think was 1986. I remember all the stills and the movie magazine that came out first, Thunderdome looked like it was the ULTIMATE.

People are entitled to have trepidation on this new film based on previous experiences. Reflecting back on Thunderdome now as a 46 year old, I see a lot of flaws in the story but a stunning film visually. It was different aged 17 and seeing MM3 only 3 to 4 years after the intensity of Road Warrior. I wasn't appreciating the design, I was just saying where is the carnage, wtf - only the one chase??!!, whats with the watered down villains etc, etc

I'm as excited by the trailer as anyone but I still have concerns & questions and it's a shame one or two have been a little beat down for feeling the same - wouldn't all studios just love it if everyone bought into every product at the first sign of a trailer!!

I think the main dissapointment of people bashing this traier or Fury Road for that matter comes from the fact that they judge it in the context of the original trilogy. It's a reboot - not connected to it anymore, reimagined, different. That's why I get so angry when people shoot down Fury Road because it doesn't fit in between MM1 & MM2 nor it is a sequel to any of them, that everything looks over the top, ridiculous story etc. Those kind of arguments are moot as they stem from the lack of understanding what Fury Road is. But I can understand the reason for criticism - the label 'reboot/reimagining' is broad and can lead to a lot of confusion. To me there's a clear line that should be drawn between Fury Road and the originals. I believe that's how Miller wanted it to be.

Taipan,
You seam to have a vested interest in Fury Road and have been critical of those that do not share your enthusiasm and perceived "understanding" of what you believe Miller wanted. Ones opinion about how FR fits into MM or criticism of the big explosions, unrealistic cars, and mutants running around the wasteland is not a lack of understanding of FF but is one's opinion of what THEY want in a MM film. Nor do I believe that it is confusion between reboot/reimagining. I am a fan of Star Trek and looked forward to the reboot, but feel that JJ Abrams screwed it up by not paying attention to basic Star Trek science, 13 minutes to warp from Earth to Vulcan, transwarp beaming, Kahn is needed to build superior ships, come-on. Nor does it exempt a great director from screwing up an established franchise, simply because he is a great director. Shall I list Indiana Jones 4, SW ROTJ or any of the prequals, the special editions or even that Han shot first?

I am a huge fan of MM and honestly feel that FR can fit in with the series between MM2 and MMBTD if not even after MMBTD. I never subscribed to the BoB being THE very last interceptor but the last design of Pursuit Specials that were scrapped because of funding etc. The FR BoB doesn't even have a boot spoiler, twin tanks, correct exhaust, nose bumper, etc. so it could be one of a few Pursuit Specials and Max could have snagged it off of another ex-MFP officer after the events of MM2. Even if you look at just the wear in his jacked shows it is well after MM2. There are huge possibilities that FR could be part of the storyline especially if MM2 and MM3 are 15 years apart making Max late 30s early 40's and fit in the realm. If it is intended to be a reboot and another Fast and Furies car crash spectacular with guns and mutants thrown in because that is the rage to sell tickets then so be it. However, as a long time fan I would be disappointed in the direction Miller took the series while still enjoying the movie.

However, as a long time fan who has read up on the development AND after watching the trailer I sit with reservations on how this will turn out next Summer when I sit and watch the entire move and not just a trailer or a bunch of hypotheses on a discussion board. With that said, ones opinion and disappointment in the movie based on the trailer, their love of the originals, AND that it differs from yours does not make their arguments moot and should not make you "so angry".
Just my 2 cents

It's been said plenty of times that Miller wanted this movie to be a reboot/reimagining. I'm surprised people still haven't accepted that.

Believe me, I would definitely want this movie to be more like the original trilogy. I was complaining about the design from the early leaked photos too. But people like us - diehard fans - are in the minority. We are not the target audience. Plus I really think that the criticism stems from the lack of understanding that Fury Road is a reboot because that's the next thing you said:
I am a huge fan of MM and honestly feel that FR can fit in with the series between MM2 and MMBTD if not even after MMBTD.
Case in point.

I'm a die hard MAD MAX fan and don't have a problem with anything Miller has or hasn't done with FURY ROAD. But like I said in another thread maybe I'm an easy critic.
