'Resistance' 1992

<t><br/> <br/> I was looking up 'Mad Max' on the Internet Movie Database a few months ago and noticed that Hugh Keays-Byrne co-directed and appeared in a 1992 film 'Resistance.' I got a copy shipped in from a second-hand store in the US and was pretty impressed. Without spoiling the plot too much, i...

Toecutter's Gang at the Farm

<t><br/> <br/> Toecutter's accent is definitely upper class Irish (yes, there is such a thing) and with a name like Hugh Keays-Byrne he sounds like an irish aristocrat. It is particularly obvious in a couple of places; at the station ('what a wonderful way you have...') and at May's farm ('Jessie, J...

Guns in Mad Max

<t><br/> <br/> Anyone notice the odd assortment of weapons in the original film?<br/> <br/> <br/> I watched it on DVD again last night and was wondering why Max ends up with the sawn off shotgun when he still seems to be carrying his MFP Magnum at one point. What happened to the big pump action he h...

Who is Your Favouite MM Villain?

Bubba is the best villain. He's got that cold measured thing going on, he could just have shot Max, but 'he know's what he's doing' and wants to torture him a bit first.

Mind you, that's his undoing.

UK Replicas (2)

<t><br/> <br/> Thanks for the advice guys. I have seen a few suitable MKIIIs in Classic Ford, all MOT'd runners at around the UKP500 mark, which would be good. Yes, it would need to be a 4 door with the 4 round headlights. I won'y be doing anything much until next winter, this summer I'm moving hous...

MFP

<t><br/> <br/> I always thought they were ex-cops who had gone off the rails like everyone else, but were better placed to survive than most having police training, equipment and cars. After all, Max is exactly the same, a scavenging ex-cop, an anti-hero who is only helpful to Pappagallo's lot becau...

Suggestion for the switchable supercharger...

<t><br/> <br/> I have a 1.6 MR2 Supercharger with a switchable blower. As far as I know it is the only production car ever to have had this (I could be wrong, please don't flame me). The engine computer can switch the blower in and out using a magnetic clutch on the drivewheel. For fuel economy (I'm...

UK Replicas (2)

<t><br/> <br/> Hi.<br/> <br/> <br/> I'm new to the forum and at the minute I'm looking into the possibility of building a replica MFP patrol car (like Max's yellow one). I have been offered a re-built Ford 3-litre V6 for very low money and am wondering what is the best base car to go after, is a MK1...

PAPPAGALLO'S DRIVING.

I saw a VW Golf 4X4 conversion that had the same arrangement with a manual transmission for the front engine and an automatic in the rear. They were intending to put a manual in the rear, but using the auto simplified things. The guy said that the car tended to creep though...
