I saw MM2 at the theater in 1982. Found MM1 at the VHS rental store the same year. I worked at the local mall in 1985. I remember that MM3 was very anticipated that year. Tina Turner was at a peak in her career in '85. "We don't need another hero" played once very two hours at that mall . ...

I just reviewed a few photos I have of the original car. It's a coil attached to the dash with a worm clamp. Non-functional yet seems like it is there to add complexity and depth to the car. Just my $0.02.
